What do I tell the stylist when I ask for a body wave but no tight curl. My hair is medium lenghth and very straight but not fine. I am looking for thicker hair for the humidity here during S. Texas' summer days.

You would be safe with purple and peach rods. I only say that because your hair is so straight. If you had some natural wave then I would say go larger with the rods.
