how can i get wavy hair? particularly without having to use a curling iron or anything else like that. i have dark, straight hair, about medium length, that's layered and parted to the side.

I think the best way to do this w/ out alot of fuss...(keep in mind it doesnt come out perfect if you dont use a curling iron) but when you get out of the shower, dont brush your hair out. Just leave it, and put in a curling mousse lightly scrunching it. Then take the blow-dryer (preferably w/ a diffuser) and on a low setting cup sections of your hair in your hand, blow-drying the hair in your hand. This should work out okay for you- afterwards, spray hair lightly w/ medium-hold hairspray. (For extra volume, hairspray the roots of hair, especially at crown of your head, and then hit with the blowdryer while holding your head upsidedown.)

P.S. This method will give you a dry beach wave look.)

I braid mine when it's damp and then go to bed and when I wake up and get ready I smooth over the braids with my hands, and maybe a little tiny bit of garnier fructis smoothy sirum and then take the braids out and then Vuala or however you spell that! :) Oh yeah, and do a few braids instead of just one big one, the smaller the braids the wavier the hair.

haha, i have the same problem.

i tried brading lots of times, never worked out the way i wanted it. Sometimes it gets CURLY..not wavy. sometimes its too big. sometimes its just..blah.

i'm buying a curling iron soon. I think it's the best way to get it right. (lol, sorry. i know you mentioned not saying anything about Irons, but, i think this is the best way.)
