Best hair coloring brand for brunettes?

Right now my hair is medium/dark brown with a lot of blonde highlights. I want to dye it all dark brown with reddish tones but I am wondering how I should go about this and what products/brands will be best. If i dye it all dark brown first and then streak it with reddish tones will the blonde i already have effect it anyway? (like turn to orange) I know a salon is best but i don't have the money right now so any advice would be great :o)

john frieda is good. umm... pantene... vive. and some others. check them out in duane reade. they have a good seliection.

if there is a "sally's" near you, go there. there products are perfessonial grade but cheaper.

you could just color your hair a chestnut color. then your blonde hightlights would be the reddish tones that you want. i would say in level 5or6. that would be a medium to light chestnut. this color will also make your brown hair appear richer in color .
