I'm just confused about these frigging semi-permanent hair- dye products.?

My hair is Medium blond, I wish I could show you a picture for more clarification. Anyways, I picked up a bottle of semi-permanant"Red Aubourne" hair dye which is apparantly a dark red. I love the color, but I don't want the color to last (obviosly) The box said that the color WILL NOT wash out after 28 washes. Does that make it permenant? Or is the time warranty actually lessoned due to lightness of the hair? Please tell me becuase I really want to try the dye out and save myself a load of drama.

If your hair is that light chances are it will stay in for a bit and my stain the hair with a color that dark . If you do dye and dont like it wash your hair with a cheap shampoo and that helps strip the dye. What you may be looking for is more of a rinse rather then a dye. Rinses have no ammonia or peroxide and usually wash out with 1-2 washes while semi-perm have low peroxide which dyes the hair.

I sometimes dye my hair at home, but I'm in the medium to dark brunette range. It's my understanding that red is very difficult to get and can go "orange." Most people recommend a trip to the salon for that.

My story: I go to Sally's and get Wella Color Charm Demi-Permanent Dyes. Even with that, sometimes the color deposit goes heavy bc my hair is porous from many colorings.

I used to use permanent Ion Color Brilliance from Sally's but it kept getting too dark and uneven - bc it's permanent. I don't recommend that route.

Since your hair is a blonde shade, you might end up getting a lot of color deposit but if you insist on experimenting on blonde, expect anything and it may go darker than you think.

As for me, I always pick a shade lighter than I want, bc my hair grabs color so well.

If you know the brand of the product you are thinking of trying, you can get better answers.

There are some hair forums at this website

You have to be care full with reds! on blond it could come out orange or black or purple I just would not do it! Let a professional do it then they have to fix it if it comes out wrong! Or I would go 2 shades lighter than what you want You can always go darker not lighter! semi permeate should last no more that 1.5 months

the colour tends to blend in with ur hair after probably 2 weeks.

'semi-permanent' means it will wash out after a few washes..

Look for a number on the front of the box. If there's a number 2 it's semi-permanent and will wash out after awhile. If there is a number 3, it's permanent and will have to grow out.
