Total Red Hair Disaster?

Well I have medium/dark brown hair naturally. I was high-lighting it blonde to "liven" up the color. Well I decided to dye my hair red, I just had to go to a very bright red hair dye. I got a semi-permanent dye and colored my hair. It was BRIGHT red, my husband was nice and said it looked fine but when I went into work so many people were staring at me. Now I want brown hair again. So I used a permanent dark brown hair color the day after using the semi-permanent red dye. It looks terrible. I have a mixture of dark brown, bright red, light brown and blonde. I have no idea why it is light brown and blonde in the back. I am a do it myself type of girl and I am considering stripping all of the color and starting from scratch. What should I do?

You should never use a permanent hair dye until the semi permanent is completely washed out. The way semi hair dyes are made is to wash out after a while, and putting something permanent over it turns out exactly as you described. Before you decide to strip it, which will damage your hair a lot, just try washing it several times a day for two weeks, and then redye it. It should turn out then because all of the semi permanent will be gone. Good luck.
