Do I have to dye my hair more than once?

Okay so I have medium-dark brown hair naturally. I had highlights in my hair and they were so ugly and made my hair look like orangey penny nasty copper brass looking. So I dyed my hair, first I dyed with Revlon Colorist Medium Ash Brown to get all the red out and then I dyed it with Herbal Essences Chocolate Velvet which is a dark chocolate brown. Now my hair color is dark chocolate brown, EXACTLY What I wanted and it's gorgeous. VERY Close to my natural haircolor.

What I'm wondering is if I'm going to have to dye my hair again? Is this going to fade over time and look ugly? I was hoping it would stay in a medium-dark brown shade and I could let my natural haircolor begin to grow in. Is hairdye a thing you have to keep doing to look good or if it's the same haircolor as your natural can it be a one time thing? Cause I dont wanna have to dye my hair like once a month. I just wanted to get the uglyness out! If I do need to somehow maintain my color can I just use brilliantbrunette

Only time will tell if it will fade (the structure of your hair will determine it). If you want to get rid of the color and go back to being natural (man I wish I could) leaving it alone to grow out is your best option, stop coloring it all together no matter how much it bugs you. Color wrecks your hair no matter how good a quality it is. If you can bare it a good cut to get some of it out and keeping it trimmed regularly will help.

Enjoy your natural hair color as long as you can. I started going grey at 24 and have had to color my hair so it blends in ever since.

The only way to keep hair dye from fading is to get it professionally done. The dye they use bonds to your hair a lot better than cheap store bought products and the color stays in. I only have to go in once every 4 months to get mine touched up.

If you've redyed your hair the same color as it originally was, you shouldn't have to dye it anymore (since you won't be able to tell when it grows out)

Darker hair colors do tend to fade after awhile (but usually only after the first few times it's dyed... I've had my hair dyed black for years, and I don't think I could get the dye off if I TRIED!)

Even if it does fade though, browns usually aren't too noticeable
