How do I go from med/dark brown to honey blonde hair color w/out too much damage?

My hair is medium brown in the front %26amp; dark brown in the back. I tried "sun-in" before %26amp; got the color I wanted- but damaged my hair %26amp; ended up having to cut a lot of hair. What should I use to condition %26amp; how do I go about coloring?

Been there. Don't use sun in products they make your hair brittle. Use a good coloring, most makers of color dyes have charts, choose one that best suits you. Or try some rinse in colors, the new Feirer by Loreal is gently. Read the directions carefully. Time does factor in. From dark to light.

I would go to a professional. They have the best for coloring and also for treating/conditioning.

There is a product called un-color it is really safe for your hair. You just put it in and sit under a hooded dryer for about 30 minutes and it makes your hair virgin again. I have used this many times. I have gone from jet black to honey blonde in a few hours and it has not damaged my hair at all. I would only suggest that you wait atleast a month or so before adding any new chemicals. Semi permanent is also a good option.

I like the Loreal Products (Preference or Excellance) and my hair is waist length and been colored so long that i'm not sure what my real color is. As an note: I ALWAYS let my hair get really dirty bor several days before I dye it. The color seems to take better and I get more even results.

If your hair is dyed brown, you will have to have the colour stripped out before you change to a lighter colour. Its best to have such extreme changes done in a salon by the professionals, as you have to be very careful.

I;ve done it twice and both times it was fine, altho you have to use a really good conditioner afterwards

Sun-in is dreadful stuff - please don't use it again!!

Is your hair colored? If so, you need to remover the color. If you have a Sally's Beauty Supply store near you, go there %26amp; get L'Oreal Color Zap. It safely removes all color gently %26amp; w/o bleach! :) After, you dry your hair %26amp; then dye it the shade you want it. I have used this product a few times ( was very indecisive about what color to be) and it didn't damage my hair at all ! ( plus, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than going to a salon to do it)
